Tim’s Dairy—the people behind some of the nation’s favourite Greek-style yoghurt—approached S4 Engineering about getting an on-demand hot water supply without the need for their boiler to be on 24/7. As specialist equipment and installation suppliers for dairy product manufacturers, we were able to fulfil all of the client’s requirements with minimal downtime. The brief: New boiler installation to supply hot water on demand
The client had a new boiler and wanted this installed and run to a new and existing plant in the factory to supply on demand 130 degree water.
The solution: Design and installation of full pressurised supply and return system
- 3000 litre pressurised hot water tank
- Pipework in the roof
- New gas mains supply
- Compressor room
- Water treatment system
The main challenge was enabling a constant supply of on-demand water at temperature without a boiler being constantly on—the client was conscious of the huge energy consumption and wanted to minimise this.
Our solution? We installed a 3000 litre pressurised hot water ‘buffer’ tank which allowed instant at-temperature supply as needed across the factory.
Tim’s Dairy supplied a boiler and allocated a room. Meanwhile, S4 Engineering supplied all the pipework on the roof, services, and pressurised hot water services to both the new and existing plant in the factory.
S4 Engineering organised and managed a new gas main supply, then ran this with fully welded pipework from supply, across the full site, and to the plant room.
We designed, supplied, and installed a full pressurised supply and return system for 130 degree hot water to a number of areas in the factory.
We also added a compressor room with reservoirs, driers and compressors, as well as water treatment capabilities.
Additionally, all outside work had to be colour matched to the building due to site restrictions—something we were more than happy and able to deliver.
Keeping the factory running was crucial for our client, so our team provided evening and weekend work to ensure prompt completion with minimal downtime for the client.
The result: On-demand hot water supply without the boiler being constantly switched on
Tim’s Dairy received a fully installed and safe pressurised hot water system and services. This meant they had a constant supply of hot water for both their current production needs and future production expansion, with overall functionality improved.
“I would have no hesitation to recommend S4 Engineering Ltd for the installation of any hygienic process plant and supporting systems.” Peter Timotheou Operations Director.
