The brief: Increase cooling capacity for sauce production line
Returning client Greencore Spalding, based in Lincolnshire, approached us with a view to expand their sauce production line. They needed increased cooling capacity to efficiently cool sauces, ready for storage. Our team was happy to assist, designing a bespoke cooling vessel and specifying a package of associated systems to help the company take full advantage of it.
The solution: Bespoke 1,000 litre cooling storage vessel
Following a consultation process, 1,000 litres was determined to be the ideal size for Greencore’s needs. We manufactured the storage vessel from stainless steel – the go-to choice thanks to its durability and longevity.
Also crafted from stainless steel were the tank’s access platforms, each of which were completed to EN1090 regulations following extensive structural calculations.
To link everything together, we designed and installed a complete package of pipework, including hygienic process valves, isolation valves, instrumentation and more.
This was complemented by hot water pipework and a control system, which features E-stop, safety circuits, a connection to the cooker, real-time information on the status of the vessel and other software, including our own data capture system.
To complete the installation, we ensured that the stainless steel cooling vessel was fully integrated into Greencore’s production line.
Collaborating with the client at every stage, we made sure that the vessel adhered to their existing control system philosophy. Full colour SCADA/PLC/HMI touch screen panels provided the finishing touch, delivering ease of use for Greencore staff.
The result: More efficient sauce production
The £130,000 project was completed to our usual high standard, leaving the team at Greencore satisfied with the end result. Learn more about the details of this food processing project by downloading the case study PDF below.
